5 Tips To Improve Your BMX Racing Today
By admin | December 29, 2008
With the new Year a few days away everybody is now setting their goals for 2009. Now I’m not big on New Years resolutions as I think they are a weak man’s motivational tool but just vow TODAY that next year you will be stronger and faster on your bike.
With that being said here are 5 tips to help you on your way to winning mains:
1) Set a goal
Whether it be make the main at the grands or just get to 5 nationals figure out what you are training for and start today.
2) Start Training
Now that you have a goal plan out your training accordingly. Just start doing something remember it doesnt have to be perfect just start trying to better yourself and things will fall into place.
3) Slow down to Speed Up
This tip did wonders for me and was told to me from the great coach Geoff Ssengoba, If you find yourself lacking in your first 5 pedals take a step back and dont concentrate so much on your 1st pedal work on making 2,3,and 4 come around as fast as possible. This will help you relax and not blow yourself out on the first pedal think smooth transition.
4) Working Equipment
I know this may sound like a no brainer but dont let the little things slip up. Make sure your wheels are trued, chain is in working order, and tires are inflated. I have always lived by the motto “A Clean Bike is A Happy bike.” With this being said when you show up to race the cleaner you and your equipment is the more professional you look so take pride in yourself and your equipment and thank me when sponsors come knockin.
5) Talk To The Pros
Dont be afraid to have converstions with the pros, most are very humble and down to earth we love to talk about bikes, training, and just life in general. Who knows what you might learn but you’ll never know until you ask.
I hope these help you in some way, please feel FREE to add more in the comments below I would love to hear your thoughts lets see how many tips we can get on here.
Stay Strong Ride Hard

P.S. One of the best ways to guarantee success is to get a personal coach, so act now and start the new year off right, be one the few I am selecting into my coaching program. This is a guaranteed way to fast track your way to main wins

Hey Ryan I just wanted to say thanks for helping out with the training. i was at the classic & was beating racers that used to beat me, i was perfect until the main when i came unclipped. So yes to anyone who has questions, your training does show results, for those that thinks its bs maybe you cant face the fact you gotta work for what you want besides just doing sprints.
